Passing the Time
Q Style
In the past eons, the Continuum has always
enjoyed a good battle. We observed your history's so-called "most glorious wars" like many of you watch Sunday Night Football. On
occasion, members of the Continuum would take control of a combatant on the battlefield. The two Q would then fight using the two warriors the way you humans fight in your coin operated arcade games. After
the battle, the victorious warrior would often describe his victory as though some strange force helped him vanquish his enemy.. The loser had nothing to say (being dead and all). The victorious Q would then
simply add one more mark of victory to his scorecard. You humans never caught on to our intervention, which added a sense of mystery to it.
Unfortunately, you humans decided to change. You no longer engage in the hand-to-hand combat of your ancestors that we enjoyed so much. You now fight your enemies by launching projectiles
from hundreds of yards away, never seeing the faces of your victims. We admired (if a Q could ever truly admire a human) your ancient warriors because they at least had the courage to face
their enemies head on. That's why the Continuum doesn't have as much fun intervening in your wars now.
So, to compensate, we began to look into the form of warfare that your youth enjoy: arcade fightling games. There are, in fact, a few advantages in using this form of combat. We
can indulge in it whenever we want, instead of having to causing a war between your many nations. We can use our favorite warriors over and over again. Not to say that we didn't in the past, but you feeble
minded fools panicked and went haywire when you saw someone you knew to be dead walking around. We just got tired of it and stopped resurrecting the warriors. And finally, even though no mortal has ever
managed to accomplish such a task, this form of combat gives you humans a chance to try and beat a Q in the game
